Holidaymakers' Plans for Spain Proceed

Ministers in Britain are preparing to announce that Britons can travel to Spain (as well as France, Italy, Greece, and Turkey) from 4 July 2020 without requiring a 14 day quarantine upon return to the UK.

Up until recently, rules around travel have been unclear. Spain had previously opened their borders for travelers from the UK and the Schengen area from 22 June without a requirement for a quarantine period upon arrival. However, it appeared that Britain intended to require a 14 day quarantine for travelers returning from overseas. With the upcoming announcement, Britons can be confident once again in making their travel plans.

Plans for travel to Málaga and Mijas now with greater surety

AIrlines and the travel industry in general have been hopeful that these bilateral agreements would be completed in order to allow travelers to have the confidence to plan their holidays knowing the rules under which they would have to comply. While mandatory quarantines will be lifted, health safety precautions will still be conducted, and it is likely that travelers will have temperature checks upon arrival, and will be asked to submit contact information in the event that contact tracing efforts indicate the possibility of exposure to the COVID-19 virus. Spain has committed to maintaining high levels of sanitary disinfection, and will continue to monitor to ensure that reopening occurs under safe circumstances.
