Tapaporte - Your Passport to a Tour of Gastronomy in Mijas

Each summer, the tourist office in Mijas organizes the “Ruta de la Tapa” - a collection of bars and restaurants in Mijas village that offer a drink and a tapa for €2,50. You can get your Tapaporte (Tapa Passport) at the tourist information office, or at any of the 12 participating locations. Each location will place a stamp in your Tapaporte, and upon completion, you can turn it in at the tourist office and receive a T-shirt as well as a coupon for free admission to Aquamijas (a water park in Mijas las Lagunas). Each of the participating locations is competing for the title of “Best Tapa” - the winner selected by receiving the most “votes” on completed Tapaportes.

If you can, join in and participate. It’s a great way to try some different foods, and will likely introduce you to a place you might not have been before. Over the years, we’ve “discovered” some new favorites that we might otherwise have missed, and we’ve tried some things we probably wouldn’t have under other circumstances (morcilla - it’s actually not bad!).
