Spain's Most Visited Site - The Alhambra

We have been to the Alhambra three times, and we’re never disappointed. To begin, Granada is a beautiful and historic city - retaining much of it’s Moorish charm and heritage alongside the unmistakable marks from the Reconquista.

Granada and the Alhambra can be seen as a day trip from Mijas, but if you have the time, we recommend spending at least two days in the city. You can enjoy the best of Granada if you can find accommodations in the Albayzín district. While there, take time to wander the streets and market, stop in local restaurants for tapas and tea, and enjoy the views and perspectives of the Alhambra that rises to the east of your walk.

The ideal time of year for a visit is during the Spring so that you’ll have more favorable weather. Be aware that summer in Granada can be quite hot, with daytime temperatures over 40C (104F). If you do go in summer, be sure to book for an early appointment at the Alhambra to avoid the heat of midday.
